If the dealer gets it working properly with a plausible explanation, 2800 is a lot better than 6200. As they say, it's not the age it's the mileage.

It was an adjustment. $58 to check it out and adjustment was free. However, they said it also needed a new coil and new blades for around $650. He's going to have that done elsewhere but it still makes me wonder if any other issues might be lurking.

It was out of adjustment and they fixed it. Blades are a wear item, you cut grass, you will need blades sooner or later. If the seller buys them now, you buy the next set later. Coils, who knows, maybe t needs them, maybe not. $650 for blades & coils, I'd be going elsewhere, too.

If you're afraid of saving $3000-$4000 you had better go buy a new one. No disrespect, but some people haven't got the stomach for a good buy.
