We're getting ready to buy a zero turn mower for the yard at our farm and just started to research them. Someone I know mentioned he has a 2010 John Deere Z445 48" Kawasaki engine with 40 hours on it. He bought it to mow 2 acres he owned in Arkansas but his lot in Houston is too small to use it so it's just taking up space in his garage. He's asking $2800 for it.

I realize it has very low miles but I'm a bit concerned about a 7 year old machine so thought I'd check here to get your thoughts. For those who own a 2010 Z445, do these machines hold up well? Any major issues? Should I be concerned about buying a 7 year old machine?

I'd pass, its still a residential machine with homeowner level deck, engine and transmission.

Search for a used commercial Deere, Toro, Exmark, Scag etc. I found my Toro z3000 commercial unit for $1900 with a thousand hours (which will last the average individual many many years).

I'm really leery of it's age so thinking we'll spend the extra money and get something like the Kubota Z122 or Z125

$3500 would get you a very nice commercial level used zero turn. Grasshopper and Woods zero turns are often some of the best and heaviest mowers for the value on craigslist.
