DEFINITELY worth getting a sub-frame mount for that BH - even if you have to pay extra for it.

As far as I know it's designed as a 3 point mount only.

I was in the market for a TLB, but just ran across a B2400 w/ bucket for $5K. Would a B2400 plus a BH be as strong as a B24? Is it essentially the same machine?

A B2400 @ $5K is a great deal if it is in good shape.

It is a larger frame, but older, model then the BX24.

The BX24 comes with an intergrated, sub-frame mount backhoe. You would have to check what make and model backhoes would be available for the B2400.

Personally I would stick with a sub-frame mounted backhoe as opposed to a 3PT model.

I'd be worried that it would be a scam. Check it out carefully.

well, she came last week -- crated!

when the weather gets nicer, i'll post shots of me and my dad installing the sub-frame, then the hoe.

i also have to get a new rops for my 2400 -- a folding one -- the old one is too short for the hoe. it's only $250.

i got a 12" and 24" bucket --

-- plenty of kubota **** to come -- :D

To ask my question again, partially rephrased, without creating a new thread :
I'm planning on getting a combination of USED tractor, loader, and backhoe, with the prime mover in the 20 to 35HP range.

Would a kubota tractor of XXhp, like the b2400, with a factory FEL and an added BH like the 4672 be as capable as a TLB like the TLB B26 (except for the diff. in horsepower)?

Or are there major differences in BH power/capability or something else a newbie like me does not know about?

Do the backhoes hookup in the same way etc.?

I stopped driving farm tractors in 1967, and I imagine there have been changes.

thanks in advance.

newbury, though the B2400 and B26 are close in hp, they are very different in design. The B26 is a commercial duty design, more suited to a small contractor or landscaper. The B2400 is more of a home owner type tractor...... lighter, and lighter duty. More suited to home owner type tasks, and certainly much better than the B26 for mowing duties(due to the B26's heavier weight). A compact with a subframe type backhoe will mount and dismount in a similar fashion to the B26's hoe. They will be similar in digging depths (though the 2400 would probably have a foot or so less digging depth), but again the commercial duty hoe is more suited to digging all day every day, and the homeowner / small farm type hoe you would put on a B2400 type tractor is made for occaisional use. Hope this answers a couple of your questions?
