Thinking of trading the BX2200 for a BX23

I made basically the same trade last winter. I think you should push the dealer a litte more on the trade. I got $8500 for my BX2200. All of your attachments will fit, but I found that the front quick attach needed new hoses. The new BX's have the loader control valve attached to the tractor full time. The hoses that were used on the quick lift for the front attachments were not long enough to reach the new loader control valve.

I am glad I made the trade. I have used the backhoe on a couple of jobs and it is handy.

Thanks Everyone for the great feedback! I've updated my profile. Thanks for pointing it out.
They sent over the paperwork today, but I am going to take one more swing at getting a little more on my trade. It can't hurt. I am in the middle of a home and landscape renovation. Now the only decission left to make is putting the hours on the new one or the old one. We are moving lots of dirt right now. I am leaning on waiting a few more weeks before having it delivered. What do you think?

I think that in all fairness to the dealer that you should make the deal as soon as possible so it will give the dealer a better window of opportunity to sell your old unit. If you don't have a lot of wear on your old tires, you might be able to get the dealer to swap them with the new machine and give you a better trade value. The difference between the new and the old isn't going to matter much to you, but it will help the old tractor to "show" better. If you haven't considered a second set of tires, I would go with the bar tires on the BX23. I have both and changing them over isn't much of a task, and the performance is worthwhile when doing different tasks. I also bought the Kubota weight bucket for the rear and use that for loader work rather than the hoe. I feel that it is better to have less weight up high as you do with the hoe. This is one of those things that everyone will have a different opinion on and it boils down to personal preference.
Don't forget to get a picture of the "old" and the "new" side by side for posterity. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I offered to make deals like that with the dealer, but they didn't want to do it. When I made the deal the salesman made me a ballpark offer on the BX2200. He did state that the offer was conditional based on a look at my old tractor. When he said that he asked what condition the loader bucket was in and specifically how the cutting edge looked. I told him how it looked and that if he wasn't satisfied with the condition we could trade buckets. When I delivered the BX2200, he didn't want to trade any parts.

I don't think that it is a huge deal for them resale wise. I guess that most people who are shopping for a used tractor aren't going to be inpressed with a new bright and scratch free bucket on a used tractor. My first question would be what did the last guy do to it to make it need a new bucket to sell.
