Thinking smaller?

/ Thinking smaller? #12
I am interested in this thread because I am also looking/considering a dozer and need some education.

Are the model numbers somewhat consistent, logical, between makes - showing weight or power?

Am I correct to assume weight, more than HP, factors into push power for downing trees or digging ponds?

Specifically, I'm looking to clear some fence-lines of scrub trees - most 6" or smaller. I would also like to create a walking trail through about 30 acres - perhaps trees slightly larger than 6" and some rocks up to 14" or so.

I was looking at a nice JD 450C. I think this weighs in around 12K lbs. Too small? Bigger than I need?
