Tractor
John Deere 5095M
We run a JD5095M. General mowing, road maintenance, firewood hauling, snow plowing, moving stuff around.
Whatever needs done to maintain the place.
Have a number of attachments, and all of them only use one or two sets of rear hydraulics.
Looking at a grading blade with tilt, angle and offset functions. Trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile
to add a third hydraulic hook up on the rear, use a diverter or just keep one function manual.

Question... how many rear, tractor attachments require three sets of hydraulic lines? Can't think of any and
would likely only add the third set if there were also another use for it.

Either way will be fine. I added three remotes to my little tractor for hydraulic top link and hydraulic side links on both sides. Being able to adjust 3 or anyway necessary without getting off the tractor is nice.

Not many 3-remote implements that I am aware of. EA does sell an awesome landscape rake that can be ordered with up to 3 cylinders.

You could run a pair of hoses up front for "3rd function" use if you don't already have that. I did that on my Mahindra 3616 and it was a lot cheaper than a true 3rd function kit. I just can't use the grapple and offset flail mower at the same time without adding a diverter or selection valve. :(

I am buying a new Kioit NX with 3 remotes to do top tilt and have 2 to run the offset flail mower and other implements.

The third on mine is for hydraulic rippers along with top and tilt. I don’t see a reason not to add the 3rd valve. Unless it has something to do with a factory setup and they are robbing you. The difference between a 2 and 3 function valve is minimal.

Typically the first two sets on the rear would be for top and tilt...a third set can be used for whatever...

IMO if there are already remotes on the rear with a dedicated valve...it is easier to add a second valve (1,2,3, additional spools) than it is to try to plumb a diverter etc...

Tractor came with two on the rear. It is a solid manifold with two sets of hydraulic lines.
In order to replace it with a similar block that has three sets of lines, the kit from Deere is like $3,000, (block, plus line, plus one lever).
To me that is very salty. That is why I am trying to figure out if the third remote on the rear hydraulics is worth it.
All our other attachments only need two remote hydraulic lines. Even the flail with off-set & tilt only needs two.
The blade with tilt, offset & angle would need three.

Ok yah, $3000 for a third spool probably isn’t worth it. If you were getting your own valve the difference is less than $200. God bless John Deere and the stealer....I mean dealer.

Maybe the time to add the third read spool is when or if you want a third function for the FEL.

$3000?? Yow.
You can add another valve body. You'll need to fab a mount for the valve and one for the quick connects, and buy some hydraulic hoses.

wfcjr, $3,000? Yow is right. That certainly wouldn't be worth it to me, and I'm a big proponent of three sets of rear remotes if the tractor's design will accommodate them. On my NX4510HST, I use the first two for top 'n tilt, and the third to operate a cylinder I added to my Woods HBL84-2 rear blade to operate its offset feature.

For your tractor, I'd be surprised if this would be as simple as adding a third valve body to the existing manifold. Perhaps Brian at Fit-Rite Hydraulics will see this thread and jump in, but I'd suggest you go ahead and contact him directly now for his expertise. He is probably already familiar with your tractor, and may have a less spendy solution.

Man, I thought Mahindra was ridiculous with their remote pricing, JD has them beat by quite a bit. You can probably add a spool for 10% of what JD wants by tapping off of the loader valve power beyond. I added a 2-spool valve (1 with float) and everything to do that cost about $600. It may not be as elegant as the dealer option, but 90% of $3000 will help soothe the pain.
