I coil mine and wrap with an elastic, bungee or fat elastics that I cut from small inner tubes.
The inner tube 'elastic' (cut about 1" wide) is what I like best.

I've always rolled mine up around the ratchet, but never locked them together like that. Interesting.

I try to get straps of a different color so it is easier to pull out of the pile of spaghetti pile of straps/

I also like them thrown into a bucket to let theme breathe easier.

He threaded it backwards!

That's what I think also. At minute marker 1:40 he runs the tag end down. I run mine up. I had to tie mine slightly different, but it is a good basic plan for sure.

I keep a bag of elastic bands on hand for various things and keeping my ratchet straps neat and tidy is just one of them.
