Hi Les,

I received a quote Wednesday for the following:

JD4720, 4wd, HST, R4's, dual scv and joystick for loader-$23,500.00
400X Loader-$3,400.00
Free pick-up and delivery during warranty.

Of course tax needs to be added to these prices.

This unit was not set-up for nor included a backhoe.

Unfortunately I don't quite need a 58hp tractor for my 15 acres.

I would ask the group for the best dealers near you. That's how I found the dealer I'm working with. Some kind soul /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif headed me to a good dealer. Some dealers refuse to compete and are willing to lose a sale.

Good Luck,

FLDave

The 400x loader I'm getting is with a heavy duty bucket and that could be the difference in price I'm paying for my 400x
loader. Is the price you're paying for the tractor less a $700.00 rebate? If it is then you're still $1,075.00 less then me.

My dealer is saying that he making very little off the unit, and
he has given me the best price he could. I've bought one other JD tractor, two JD gators , and a Z-trac riding mower from him. We got a pretty good business relationship with him over the years.

I did ask him to give me little more on my '01 4700, with a 460 loader and 48 backhoe. He said he $16,500.00 was the best he could do for trade-in value. That he was already sticking his neck out for me. The company value the '01 for only $14,500. ( I hope this is not just a line) Anyway
I'm trying to sell the '01 myself before the new tractor comes in. If I cannot then I will bit the bullet and trade the '01 in.

It could be the location that you are at. You could be closer to the factory. The shipping could be the difference!

Thanks

I wish I had the coins to buy your tractor. I would think it would be worth that much easily.

I'm confused by how much price offset you said you were paying vs. what FLDave's price.

If you want, PM me and I'll give you the phone number of my dealer. He's about 1 1/2 hours from you....Kyle

Chowl,

Are you a horse operation and do you qualify for the AQHA discount? Are you enrolled in the members plus program? The reason I ask is because you don't deal directly with AQHA on that deal. You deal with John Deere Direct Sales. If you are set up with this let me know and I can give you some info. to save even more money than the 20%.

Yes, I own and operate a boarding stable for horses in Houston, Texas. I'm also a member of AQHA. I talk to a offical with the members plus program on Monday, and he
explain the AQHA discount to me and how it works.

After talking to him and learning how the discount works I
came to the understanding that the deal my dealer is giving to me is as good if not better then using the AQHA discount.

The AQHA offical did say that the discount is 20% off of retail
for Compact Tractors and implements The finance rate for the tractor and implements with AQHA discount is only 6.9%.

If I go with my dealers deal I can get a 1.9% deal for three years and a $700.00 rebate witch is not allow with the AQHA discount. I also can use my EAA discount coupon that is good
for $250.00 off.

Thanks

You can qualify for 25% but if you are going the financing route and using the $900 in rebates you would be better off going with the dealer deal.

Ok - I researched some of the pricing you guys have listed (mainly because I'm curious!!!) and HOLY MOLEY - you guys are getting good deals. Both of the prices that were quoted, the dealer is making almost nothing (so, no it is not just a line)

Chowl - If you are financing this tractor, then the dealer offer is the way to go. The dealer is already giving you a 20% discount w/out the AQHA. (This makes no sense to me - it would be far better for him, if he used the AQHA /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif) So, he's going to give you the same discount, and you are going to get better financing. Have you compared the monthly payments on them yet?

Well, guys I took delivery of my 4720 tractor, 400x loader, and 448 backhoe Monday. I place my order with my dealer
about three weeks ago. I told him I was going too try and sell my '01 4700, 460 loader, and 48 backhoe myself. I had him give me his best price on a trade-in value on my old rig.

I try for three weeks before I place the order for the new rig and three weeks after I place the order for the new rig to sell the old rig myself.

So, when the new rig came in, I bit the bullet and told delivery
of the new rig.

I'm happy with my decision to go ahead and trade the old rig in for the new one. I feel I can live with the trade-in deal and not look back. I would have love to sell the old rig and get a little more money for it. But it was not to be.

I think that one must study the product and make the best deal that you can with the dealer and in your mind and heart.

You must remember that someone out there will always make a better deal than you. Another dealer somewhere will always
sell to you a lot less than your dealer would.

I would like to thank everyone on this site that commented on my first post. I found out about this site by accident and feel it is one great site. You can bet that I have added it to my list of favorites already on my computer.

Thanks again to everyone!!

Thanks
Les
