eBay/Craigslist This ebay item looks fishy

It reduces the listing fee. When I sell high price items on ebay that I "know" are going to sell for at least what I want for them I start them at 99 cents with no reserve. It cut's down on ebay fee's.

Says EBAY will cover fraud up to 20k on this auction so maybe it is real.

Odds that it's a scam = 95%
Odds that it's an inexperienced seller = 4%
Odd that it's legitimate = 1%

I've seen dozens of similar listings that seem too good to be true. The giveaway is that you cannot contact him through ebay and that you must contact him personally outside of ebay's watchful eye before making a bid. I have reported and killed dozens of these. I finally just grew tired of it because they pop up almost as quickly as you can snuff them out. A lot of times the seller's ID is some innocent ebayer who's had his identity abducted. It's pretty funny when they have a half dozen of the same listing show up that are all identical except for the item number. When I first noticed one of these I sent the seller a question through ebay. The legitimate seller sent a response and said she was not listing that item and someone had stole her ebay identification. Be wary.

Ebay won't, PayPal will.

This was in the early days of Ebay account hijacking and someone got my login and pw and listed a English Grandfather clock for 5k and wanted direct deposit as payment. They would have gotten away with it except that the listed shipping charge was like $75. I began getting emails like "How can you ship this clock for $75" "What Clock?" It took my awhile to find the items I was supposedly selling because Ebay use to have a much different look and I would just put those items on my watch list as I listed them.
The most amazing thing was, when I told my wife, and she saw the listing, she asked how they got a picture of our dining room clock on Ebay. I had forgotten we had a clock almost exactly like the one in the auction. We had to look close at the two to make sure someone hadn't come in our house and was really really scamming us. Holy Cow clockman. Anyway, Ebay fixed everything before anybody got taken.

After looking at that tractor, I clicked on the link to all tractors for sale in that section. On the first page is a 2003 John Deere 410G 4x4, cab loader/backhoe wth a buy it now price of $6,000 and fee shipping. hahahaha

It has less than 500 hours and it's baout $30,000 undrpriced. Guess he just doesn't care about money.

eBay: 2003 John Deere 410G 4x4 TRACTOR BACKHOE LOADER (item 300088298339 end time Mar-08-07 19:04:54 PST)

Compare that newer one to this older 410D which looks like a real auction. No cab, 2wd and almost 7,000 hours on it for over $13,000 so far.

eBay: John Deere 410D Tractor Loader Backhoe! NO RESERVE! (item 200084650511 end time Mar-08-07 18:00:00 PST)

Yeah, but look at those bids. Bidder7 bid 1 million bucks. Bidder3 bid 102 thousand. Was he just a user that thought this was a scam and wanted to scam the scamer or bring attention to the auction?

Eddie, the first one is not even a ebay auction. I reported that one a little while ago. Look at the URL address, it's not ebay.com, it starts cgibincgi.com. Put your mouse pointer over the first link and look at the bottom left of your screen to see the real web address it is sending you to. When you go to the real listining in ebay it redirects you off ebay to someone else's site that has the page set up to look just like a ebay listing page. Big big scam on that one. I'm waiting for ebay to give that one the axe.
