It's 46 in Vermont right now, looks like more rain, and the furnace just kicked on. Wouldn't mind some sun!!

Mighty nice here too! (Kentucky) I LOVE being outside in the morning when the sun comes up. That's the best time to "visit" with Mother Nature. Growing up, I was one of those "sleep 'till 4PM and stay up all night" sorta kids. My dad would be livid over my sleeping late. "You're missing the best part of the day, LAZY" he'd tell me. Now that I'm older, that's just one more on the list of things where I found out he was "smarter" than I gave him credit for.

Chance of thunderstorms here right now. Last night, I sat out on the patio, overlooking our garden, and watched the lightening move across the horizon. Nature and all its splendor!

DANG! What am I doing INSIDE, typing on the computer? I'm headed back outside!

So beautiful in Provence. The cherries just finished the almonds are almost ready to pick (we pick green almonds) the flowers are just fading from the olive trees and you can see the little tiny baby olives.

It is so pleasant to sit out on the patio and look at the lights from Lanscon in the distance. There is no pressing farm work just projects that we do as we please. We have a week or possibly 2 then back to work picking the almonds.

Locally it is high apricot season and of course the cherry season is just ending. I love the fresh produce and the beauty of Provence. It is an area of an abundance of fresh produce. Similar I think to the San Joachim (spelling?) valley of California. Perhaps the Northern part of the valley at it approaches the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We are in the Low Alps, the foot hills to the Alps. I love agriculture and the rythem of the seasons. We have has just 2 harvests, we are growing our 3rd harvest but already I feel the rythm.

Yesterday there was a big article in our newspaper about us winning the TOP award at the Los Angeles County Fair. Workign with shipping is a nighmare but I manage to get through it. It feels so great to have the fruits of your labor recognized. I knw the Italian olive oils receive the press but honestly they can't hld a candle to the oils that are grown in Provence. We produce jsut 2% of the world's olive oil and export very little (it is all consumed in France) but really the oil is so wonderful, I am so proud that it is getting recognition.

What a great life....

It's very nice here in So. CA this week. Temps are in the mid 70's now, but predicted to go back up to the mid 90's next week. We spend evenings out on the patio until late watching the sun go down and relaxing. Very low key...

78 right now and blue skies in the rainy state. This is burning time, the ground and vegetation is still very green but the soil supports the machines well enough to avoid a mud bog. We spent a few hours today picking apples. The apple trees sprout dozens of apples per limb which makes them all small or the branch breaks. We thin them down to send more energy to a few dozen good apples.

But go on thinking it rains 365 days a year. We already have too many imports. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif That is unless you want to help with the burning. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We hit 101 yesterday, but so far today, it's only 99. And like you, I've lived in South Central Oklahoma and North Central Texas nearly all my life, and always hated June, July, August, & September. The other 8 months usually aren't too bad.

Perfect weather here in the mountains of Arizona. 102 degrees, a few clouds, a little wind and 18% humidity. Great working weather.
