Yes, Kennedydiesel said it best. Imagine when you do lower your BB to the ground, without the rears being filled you lose traction. You can scoop up a full load in the FEL to help the front wheels pull their share.
I would think that if your getting a backhoe, that the rears being loaded would be a good thing. Mass is good when digging. It will help put weight over the arms providing more stability.
My R4's are loaded and I can drive over our grass without problems. Just let the lawn dry out at least 3 days depending on your soil.
