Yes, Kennedydiesel said it best. Imagine when you do lower your BB to the ground, without the rears being filled you lose traction. You can scoop up a full load in the FEL to help the front wheels pull their share.

I would think that if your getting a backhoe, that the rears being loaded would be a good thing. Mass is good when digging. It will help put weight over the arms providing more stability.
My R4's are loaded and I can drive over our grass without problems. Just let the lawn dry out at least 3 days depending on your soil.

Rule: The measured weight at the fulcrum (balance point) can never be REDUCED by adding weight at either end of it.

On a tractor, depending on the situation, either the front or rear axle can act as the fulcrum. If the front axle is the primary fulcrum, adding more weight to the rears will do nothing to "lift" the fronts. Actually, a scale under the front wheels would register MORE weight not less. It CAN successfully counter-balance the front-end load, it just can't reduce the front end load. Adding INFINITE weight over the rear axle will not add 1 single lb of lift to the front end for this reason.

However, if the rear axle becomes the fulcrum by placing sufficient weight BEHIND the rear axle, then you can actually reduce the front-end load, even to zero and into negatives (ie a wheelie)

A tractor that all by itself weighed a gazillion pounds would be great because you'd always have sufficient weight behind the front-fulcrum for FEL work and ahead of the rear-fulcrum for rear attachments. Moving around without creating grand-canyon-sized ruts would be another problem entirely.
