Can you send some of that rain to oz.
Dug a hole 2' deep and not a single sign of moisture in the soil. Everything is dying. Trees and all.

Dave .. I have horses and NO hay acreage! I have to pay for every bale they use.

AND .. if the weather doesn't cooperate, I STILL have to pay for every bale they use. AND if my regualr hayer doesn't have it, I have to find someone who does and STILL PAY FOR IT.

Your complaint is overstated methinks!

You're not alone. I think there are a lot of people in the same boat. We don't buy or sell hay. We cut and store for winter feed. I got the hay pasture sprayed and fertilized this year and it was looking beautiful until the rain and storms started. In the end we decided to give up on the first cutting and mow it down. That's how I spent this past week-end, cutting down woody Coastal. We're going to fertilize and try for a second and third cutting. Now, I bet it doesn't rain again for the rest of the year. Who in their right mind would have anything to do with farming for a living?

We are having a weird year, it has been so cold, everything is about 2 weeks behind normal. We'll low on rain but its so cold and overcast everything is damp still.

To each their own.

You are buying hay for two horses, I am buying for seventeen.

Bit of a difference wouldn't you think?

For this gentleman farmer the rain has been a blessing.

I planted peas on June 5th. They had sprouted on the 6th, were out of the ground on the 9th and were 4" tall on the 12th!!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

TBAR my peas and corn rotted in the ground. Maybe it's still not too late to get in another planting yet this year if it ever dries out. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ah, the levee broke in the early summer; no rain to affect it. They are not sure why it broke. Our last substantial rain was months ago.

2 inches every 3-4 days? That would be great we got 4" in 1/2hr last night. Been getting 2+ inches rain day the last week and it doesnt look like its going to stop this week.
