I just bought a 555 ford backhoe and the previous owner didn't know where they all were. I talking about grease fittings. All the points were creased except for the ones on the bottom of the front bucket. I had to remove the bucket and install new bushings. The origonal ones were worn paper thin and hadn't seen grease in a long time. A fter taking the old bushings out I cleaned the hole and decided to pump a shot of grease into each one. Neither would take any on the first pump and on the second it birthed a great big cone of dirt/rust/old grease, it looked like a Hersey Kiss.
I got the new bushings installed and used the hoe yesterday to widen a road on my son's property. It worked great, I'd hook a tree beside the road and grub it and son would take his Bobcat 185 and drag the tree to the grub pile, then I'd dig the edge off and lay the dirt in the middle of the road and pull forward 10-12 feet and he would spread the dirt and we would repete the process. We did 300' of raod in about an hour and a half. I havn't run a 4 stick hoe in several years and took some getting used to, but it's OK now. Later, Nat

Bobcats always do well. I've owned skidsteers for years. First 1 was an 1835 Case w/188 engine then a 555 new holland, ther a old L-35, then an old case with a wisc, gas then a 743B, then a 843, then an 1845C case then aNH 865, then a bobcat 863. The 1845c had the best engine, the 4-390 Case/Cummins. The 863 would dig the most dirt, by far. I was a swimming pool contractor for 20 years till my son took over in 2000. He buys a new bobcat every 2 years, and in this old operators opinion you can't go wrong buying Bobcat
