Those Plastic Caps on Small Keys

This may be a first-world problem, but those little caps that come on mower keys and ATV keys don't last very long. Not always a big problem but on some keys it is pretty tough to turn them without the cap. Has anyone devised a replacement using common household items like duck tape, bottle caps, etc.

Buy several keys for spares. They are all interchangeable. Back when I was in the mower business, we just called them "Toro Keys".

That's a great idea. I would think that you could dip it several times and build up a good grip pad about as thick as the original.

If key is metal and has hole in it, use the round split key rings on the key.

Just in case there is any interest . . .

I found that you can buy a key blank from the ATV dealer but they don't grind out the teeth of the key. You have to take it to a locksmith or other key place to get the pattern on it. Nice to know extras are available.
