Those things to empty trailers?

I can answer that...No he can't...he can't cite any references because he got so rude in the thread he's referring to that the administrators had to delete it. He has this habit of "spouting off" and getting the threads closed. As we say in the south "God bless him, he must be special". Best thing is when he gets rude, you can report the post. I have one and like it very much, it works great on stuff like sand and bark mulch. Not so good on stuff like firewood. The trick is to keep as much of the material on that mat as possible. They make different sizes for different size trucks, I would checkout their website to see if they have a wide one for a trailer.

On topic - I had one on an old F-350 and it worked great for firewood and light loads but not so much for full loads of gravel and rocks.

By the way, I was not referring to any thread in particular just Ford threads in general since you always seem to be in one to put down everyone.

And I was never "rude" in the thread, the moderators obviously felt it no longer served it's purpose in helping the original poster find a new car and locked it from getting further off course. Kind of like this one...:confused2:

Get a free piece of used carpet. Lay a chain on the trailer bed. Then lay a piece of used carpet over the chain. Curl the front edge of the carpet over the top of whatever you put in there. then run the chain over the top. Pull the whole thing out with a tractor and spread it. Don't get the material too deep unless you really want to have to shovel for while.

I just got through hauling three 1/2 yard loads of 3/8" pea gravel in my 3/4 ton truck. I put down a cotton painter's tarp and wrapped it up over the truck bed's edges-be sure to wrap it up over the tailgate-then dropped the loader bucket of pg on top of it. I shoveled out with the aid of a rake most all of it but then just dragged out the tarp dropping the rest. Works good. Leaves a clean truck bed.

When I jack hammered my sidewalk and driveway in preparation for pouring new ones and had to haul the debris to the dump I needed a way to unload the busted up concrete so...

I put down some old used water pipe cut to 4-5 pieces about 40-44 inches long. I oriented the pipe side to side in the bed (to fit between the wheel wells and then put a sheet of plywood on top of the pipes. loaded in the concrete as high as the bed.

When I got to the dump I removed the tailgate, backed up at a fair clip and shortly before getting to my target area slammed on the brakes. The plywood and all the concrete flew out the back, missing the rear bumper. I then recovered the pipes and plywood for reuse as I had multiple loads to haul.

This would not work for gravel or sand unless you put a bunch of cardboard boxes or similar containers on the plywood prior to loading the material. If the material can't be piled neatly or restrained by some sort of container it will spread out in front of the wheel wells and "lock" the load in place. In the instance of my concrete, I manually unloaded the chunks that were in a position to block the smooth dumping action (10-15 bowling ball sized chunks) and then it worked as smooth as could be for the rest of the load. I overloaded the truck and had over a ton of debris in it, each load.

I would imagine what type of bed liner would effect your ability to empty the truck too. A spray on, with grip would not work as easy as a plastic bed liner that would be slipery.
