30 horsepower is plenty ! Sure sounds like a nice deal to me.

PTO horsepower with brush hogging only really matters on the material you're mowing. If its thin dry weeds that wont lug the tractor down, then a lower PTO HP rating will work fine. If you're mowing tall green grass, then you're going to want something with a bit more power to get through it.

Having mowed both with my 45hp tractor with a 6ft rotary mower, that tall green grass gives it a workout! Usually moving slow, range 2, gear 3 or 4, I have to slow down in the tall stuff.

Ok- So here is the vin plate- when I called the dealer it shows that he bought it from- they said it does not show in their records?? I called another dealer and they said unless it was bought there they cannot look it up-Also why would it show as a model XR40RFA if the tractor show it as a XR3135??- Again thanks so much for all the advice!!

Not sure how their model numbers work. My MT240 shows a name of G38RF and the SN begins with G38RF, and shows Type G ... not sure how those work.

Ok- Just found this one- 2021 with cab 112 hrs- but has turf tires which I would have to change- So for roughly the same price would you get the 2019 45 hrs ,3rd function with Grapple OR the 2021 112 hrs with Cab and I would have to change tires- Please help me make a decision- thks

says you are in NJ, do you plan on doing any snow work? If so, I'd get a cab.
I'd sure love a cab, but here in AL, without AC it'd be a death trap 6 months out of the year.
On my land, I frequently use a grapple, so getting that along with the 3rd function already installed and not needing to change tires would be a pricey benefit. But if snow .....

No snow= it will be used in our summer house just during the summer- it is all grass but slopey - So not sure if the turf tires would work???= thks

The turf tires would be pretty good on the snow. But since you're not going to be using it for snow removal, you'd probably want to replace the tires. That said, having a cab is REALLY nice! Barely any dust when out mowing, no bugs, AC, music, 10/10 would recommend the cab! But tires are expensive. I'd also put ballast in them. My money: 2021 cab, get tires, fill them with beat juice, and don't look back.

For what its' worth, here is my plate. It's an R-Model, whatever that means. It reality, its an XR4145C. It must be some weird manufacturing code they use.

I'd opt for the cab if only used in the summer for mowing. Just a note about the HP, my father has an L235 that will turn a 5ft bush hog pretty well, but you have to slow down in thick grass. An XR3135 should do at least that. Depends what you're mowing. I cut my parents' 19 acre field a few times with the Kubota, but it took forever. If time isn't an issue, then definitely go for comfort.

Because that's the plate for the ROPS structure. Every ROPS is registered at the dealer, basically "certifying" that the ROPS was specifically engineered for the specific tractor.... legal stuff.

The tractor plate should be on the side of the frame, just under the engine.

As in my previous post, that's the ROPS plate.
Look under the engine, on the frame.

Some people actually prefer turf tires because they tear up the turf a little less

As far as I know, no. Nothing major anyway. I know you'll be happy with the cab model. And try those turf tires while out mowing. They might do pretty well! Just stay out of the mud.

BOUGHT IT!!!!
So I got the 2021 cab with 112 hrs on it-- the dealer is going to load the tires so it will help- He felt that the Titan Cross trac C/S tires now that they will be loaded should be fine?? Only bad part is that I wont be up to the house till Aug. 8th so that is when he is going to deliver- BUMMER!!!
Guys- thank so much for all your advice and patience!!!

AWESOME! Congrats!
The filled tires will defiantly help! You'll be way more stable. More weight also equals more traction. Unless you're diving in the mud, you should be just fine. And when they wear out (in 25 years) then you can replace them with a more aggressive tread.
Again, CONGRATS! 🄳

Hello- Looking to replace my Dads 40 yr old Kubota L235 to mow about 20ish acres of field in NH- I am going to buy used as we only use it a few times a year ( It is a summer place)- I am looking at a Massey 1735M and just saw the LS XR3135H go up for sale- It comes with Third function valve,Worksaver 48" Grapple, Quick Attach and Forks- I can get it for around $20K- Any issues with this model??- both have the loader-which do you think is the better tractor for same $$$$-- thks so much-
I would go for the MF if it was me. That is if you have a close dealer. We had a couple MF's going up on the farm. We always had good luck with them.
