Thoughts on using a trailer minus one wheel.

Honestly, how many people with double axle trailers have spares? I don't and I don't really remember seeing spares on double axle rigs. Single axle, yes, but not doubles. Maybe I haven't been paying attention but I think spares are the exception, not the rule.

I have never owned a trailer, well over 20 different ones, without a spare. I would not leave my drive without a spare for my trailer or the truck pulling it. Thats just me though.

I would say 1/4 of the trailers I see do not have spares.:confused2:

I bought my 2 axle trailer a long time ago. No spare came with it and no mounting place for one either. I stayed local for a long time. Once I started making longer trips, I added the spare tire and carrier. Also, added brakes to the second axle and a breakaway switch. Good thing I added the spare!

3 double axle and one single. ALL have spares. Have used the spares on the car trailer and the camping trailer......

When we bought our 20' double axle trailer last year, I asked about a spare and the sales rep took me to the back (by the building where they build the trailers) and showed me a stack of wheels with tires mounted and balanced that were new take offs with minor blems. We haggled a price and I got a spare, same tire and wheel as are on the trailer...

Simple fact of life "If you have it, you won't need it. If you DON'T have it, you will definitely need it!"

True for most things but not for me and trailer tires. I had 3 flats on my new 18,000# GVWR tri-axle trailer in the first 10 months. Last trailer I bought, 4 years old, in May had 2 blow outs in 2 weeks before I replace the 4 year old tires with new ones. Every trailer I have owned has had 1 or more blow outs in its life. Yes, I do check the pressure and keep it right at spec before each trip.
