I'm looking at getting a FEL mounted front blade. I'm trying to decide whether to run hydraulic hoses to the bucket control valve and use the loader joystick for angling the front blade, or run hoses all the way to the rear remote. One dealer says using the loader joystick is the way to go because once the blade is mounted level I only need the functions of using the loader arms and angling the blade. A different dealer says go to the rear remote because I'll need to use the roll control on the blade. Just wondering what advice and opinions you guys have?
I have two plows on FELs. One on a B3030, a 6 ft Curtis, and one on an M59, an 8ft Virnig.
The B3030 utilizes the rear remote for power angle. By design of the mount this is a "stiff" plow. As you angle the plow you need the curl to keep the blade cutting edge parallel to the ground. After a little use I found it fairly easy to adjust to. I also like the ability to curly the plow back to push snow up a pile and then level the plow to push the snow over the top of the pile.
The M59 plow is a different story. It is a skid steer mount that angles using the third function valve on the FEL. The plow by design can float/tilt side to side allowing the cutting edge to within reason always remain parallel with the ground. It also can float up or down as the grade changes even if the FEL is not in the float position. Again the curl is handy when pushing over piles and when putting down pressure with the cutting edge curled down for back dragging.
I guess in the end it's all a matter of what you get accustomed to.
