Speaking of Piracy, I kind of like Jimmy Buffet.

He has several songs related to the sea...

You might want to listen sometimes...never know what might come up that could be of importance in the future...you just never know.

Seems like threads that get side tracked here still end up providing some good info of one type or another.

Can't say I've been guilty myself of getting off topic though.

Straight and narrow. That is where I come from. Never one to add unnecessary words, no, that is not me.

Absolutely not. Nope, I can tell you that I have never contributed to leading a thread astray.

Others are guilty of doing such things though. Gatorboy is a good example...if I were you I would PM Gatorboy and chastise him for doing such things. Tell him you heard it from a reliable source that wants to remain anonymous...

I'm sure that will be enough to temper his response... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm guilty of it.
But, like Henro, I've noticed the threads with more than a couple pages of replies usually have strayed off the subject but they are some of the most interesting reads.
Once a thread has more than one page I don't rely on the subject line to describe the topic at hand.

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Why do pirates wear eye patches? )</font>

Because back then the coral implants could not be painted. So rather than look at a serious pink eyeball, the patch was used to cover it up.
Now that plastic materials are more common, artists (they are artists) ocularists have done a fine job of duplicating the eye.
Of course those of us who do wear plastic feel somewhat disrespected by the six-million-dollar man's implant.
Makes you wonder after all that time and money why the technology has not made it to non-secret agent types and the price has not come down. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Subject headings? Our posts have subject headings? Never paid any attention to them. I just try to read every message in the sections that really interest me, and appreciate whatever message is in the thread. If it wanders a bit, I just wander with it. Life needs to be a bit spontaneous...

He is a pretty talented writer as well. I've read a couple of his books and they are very entertaining.

Them eye patches is for putting over the holes the good guys shoot in your ship. The wooden leg is for letting the sharks feed on after walking the plank.

Wonder if Henro is always to the point?

Kozmo38:

<font color="blue">I just get frustrated when I am interested when I am reading something that is interesting to me then "Wham" we are on a tangent. </font>

hmmm... If you reflect on your own mental functioning, you might observe that it is impossible to hold more than a half dozen items at the same time in short term memory. Further, if you attempt to monitor what pops into short term memory (consciousness) you will note they are the result of "chains" of subconscious connections (neural activation vectors) which may, but often are not, connected in a strictly logical sense. They are, however, directly connected neural pathways - after all, everything flows through the path of least resistance.

Last night I got home late. While washing my hands before eating I was looking at the soap. Later, when deciding on what movie to watch I pulled out a movie called Soap Dish. Logically connected? Hardly. But in my subconsious it was. A fascinating book on the subject of mental wanderings was written by a guy named J. Varendonck who monitored, and wrote down, his mental processes during his inactive periods in WW I published (1921) as The Psychology of Day-Dreams and introduced by S. Freud.

So, Kozmo38, have I <font color="blue">"Pirated" or "Stolen"</font> your thread, or, have I taken it, in my own feeble way, to a deeper level to explain it?

hmmm...
