Threads on cylinder rod ends...

I'm a machinist and have several pitch gages, but if i need to know thread pitch and don't have a gage handy, I just use a scale or tape measure and count the threads in one inch. Don't count the first one you line you're scale up on. Metric is a little different story though. Metric is the distance from one thread to the next.
