Three Phase Converter Question

I have a couple of three phase machines in my shop that I run with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). Nearly all VFDs can be powered with single phase as long as they are properly derated. There are several advantages to using VFDs over alternatives such as very low starting current due to acceleration control, variable speed, and reversability. Take a look on Ebay. You will probably find that VFD prices are comparable to phase converters.
