Three point hitch question

/ Three point hitch question #21
Try putting the top link in the bottom hole on the tractor. If you have already done that, then I suggest a hydraulic top link from Fit Rite Hydraulics. I can build you a shorter top link so that you can get some good tilt back angle and not worry about the bale falling off.

Just an idea. ;)

May have to do that, Brian. I can see where a hyd top link would come in handy. Gonna look at this thing and see what kinda mods I can make to my fork and try to get it right.

It sounds like your spears or forks are simply not long enough. In any case, yes, they will tilt upwards slightly when you raise them, but it's not a dramatic amount. Everybody around here I know uses hay spears on the FEL, not the 3-point Stick it in, roll it upwards and you're good to go.

The 3-point is basically a parallelogram.
For level lifting all 4 'legs' of the 'gram must be parallel and consequently all the angles will be the same.
Shorten or lengthen any one leg and every thing changes.
Cat 1, I recall is 16" on the vertical and most tractors will have 2 positions to select above the PTO for the upper arm to attach. Use the upper attach point which should result in about 16" above the lower pivot points.
To adjust the upper/lower lengths you screw in or out the length of the upper 3-point arm.
One way to demo/understand this is to take 4 sticks (say 12") and tack the 4 corners and play with this changing a tack from 12 to 11 " and you'll quickly understand how the system works.
Have fun.

 -- fairly close to it anyway. To get the implement to tip up the toplink should attach low on the tractor and high on the implement. That essentially foils the //ogram the right way to favor the required result.
