Drain the old diesel out and charge the battery.

Charge the battery and start it. Run at idle until warm. If oil was changed before storage. All should be OK. Otherwise change engine oil before starting.
Diesel stores very well. Does not have problems like gas.

What does on do with the drained fuel? I have always wondered this? When I was a kid we would pour it into bond fire pits and then strike a match...

I am now near 30 and I am pretty sure doing that today is not SMRT.

As long as there is not a burn ban in your area, it should be OK. At least thats the easy way, but you can check with auto zone, they take used oil now in most places, at least thats in an add I saw for them.

I actually have to purchase diesel to do just what you've stated. Old tires were a common fuel to get slash piles going, but now it's just diesel or kerosene along with a drip torch.

Some people here are using the plastic twine from the large round hay bales to start fires here now. The twine is stuffed in a paper feed bag with a small amount of diesel and the twine burns similiar to old tires. I expect it will it will only be a matter of time until twine is banned as a fire starter. The farmers/ranchers in this area generate a lot of twine. Probably will end up paying to put in a landfill soon. I guess I went off track, but that is normal for me.

"All the more reason to start growing industrial hemp again in the United States for rope, baling twine and paper products" we did this for centuries before the end of World War Two , in fact Hemp Seed was so valuable it was stored in bank vaults during the war years.

AND again to the FBI AND DEA IT IS NOT Marijauna GET IT!!!!!!!!

Industrial hemp has been proven again and again not to be a Hallucinagenic root crop AGAIN AND AGAIN.

I mean Gee Whizz after all, our paper for everything came from the hemp plant until the paper companies found that soft wood lignin could be broken down and made into paper.

The paper companies wood crucify the cotton growers that sell cotton to the United States Goverment to make our currency bills of course thay would not hesitate to corner the laminated money market and some nations use laminated plastics for currency with Australia being one of them at one time.

Apparently in our ultimate wisdom we are recycling enough paper products and in so doing the paper companies have been cutting back on their hacking and wacking in the forests laying off loggers for pulp wood for the production of paper giving the bears, deer, owls, mice, elk, wolves, and earthworms a break and in the process increasing our carbon storage reducing air pollution.

OK I will jump off my soap box and skid on some cow patties :thumbsup:

Anywhere you can buy oil or have your oil changes is required to take your waste oil for recycling a lot of the recyclers simply use it to heat their shops and use it that way too.
