When I put new carb on s82, I went to connect throttle linkage from the carb to the linkage block mounted on the engine and I can not figure out where to hook the spring that is coiled around the linkage arm to on the engine sige side . On the the carb it is obvious where it gets connected but on the engine side it is not. I should have payed more attention when disassembling, can anyone direct me to a site where I could get engine parts diagrams? Or does anyone have an S82 that could help me out? Thanks for reading this.......

:welcome: to the forum.

I think the engine is a B&S, so get the numbers off that engine and google for a carb diagram. Usually there is a model number and serial number to help that search.

The linkage problem I have is on the engine, where the throttle wire from the carb connects. I connect the stiff wire with no problem but the little hairlike spring that is coiled around that wire has a small hook on it. Where does it attach to the throttle linkage on the engine? I am having a hard time finding any diagrams for the Briggs and Stratton 190000 series 8hp engine on my JD S82. And of course the JD dealers and service will not help me. They want 82.00 per hour to fix something I could hook up in 12 seconds if I just knew where to hook it.....

That is an anti-rattle spring. It connects to the same holes that the rod is in. It keeps tension on the rod and levers to reduce noise and wear.

Does this YouTube video help at all? It is horizontal B&S and suspect you have vertical, but there may be other video's that you can connect with that will give you the answer.

It is a different setup on my B&S. And there is something missing. In the video you sent there was a larger spring. I found a spring like that laying along side engine. The spring is rusted and 1 end broke off. So I'm thinking it's part of the throttle linkage. Like the one in the video. I am new to this mower, it was inherited, and has sat for a while. I do remember about 5 yrs ago my brother in law had it running, it started up with a jump. Now I am trying to rehab it and I guess I'm going to have to spend some money on a tech manual so I can see diagrams of stuff I need to fix. That video would be perfect if it was my model (s82). Thanks for sending it. I will still try to find some diagrams on the Internet, thanks again...............not giving up yet!!!!.... Just getting started!!!!!

Look for the engine model number, not the s82 Deere model.

The engine is what you are trying to fix, if I understand correctly.

If you found a broken spring, then that is a clue where to start. And I suspect the concept of how they work on the carb/throttle linkage is pretty much the same.

Ok throttle linkage spring gets hooked at the same place as the linkage. Got it. next is the governor spring. I assume it attaches to carb and linkage block on engine. Now I must find out where. I am going to remove the linkage block from the engine to ee if it is obvious where to hook it on that side. But tHe carb doesn't seem to have any attach points????????
