Thumb closes slow and opens fast on Bobcat 331

I have a 2001 Bobcat 331 excavator. Recently my thumb started closing very slowly (20 seconds), but it still opens quickly (4 seconds). Before this recently started it was opening and closing at the same rate ( 4 seconds either way) Any ideas to diagnose the problem?

If the thumb has QD's on hoses, try re-seating them - also, when internal springs fail (at least for ag-types) the QD's become a kind of CHECK VALVE, usually only in ONE DIRECTION... Steve
