Not just… plenty of doorways in the older sections of cites like Oakland and San Jose…

I live at the border of two very vibrant cultures. Virginians and North Carolinians. There are plenty of reasons not to live here, but crime and homeless camps aren’t one of them.
@Fixastuff,

You may not be living in a place like that now.
However, the effects of 10 MILLION new illegal immigrants is starting to be felt everywhere, even small more rural areas like yours and mine.

This never happened in MY area, until now.

Then my once-crimeless sleepy little rural community got a month long terrorizing by this little beauty

3200 square feet, well insulated with triple pane windows.

Unless you have PGE plus the city added utility taxes it is hard to understand unless maybe your utility is in Hawaii.

Again, I have not paid for a kW of electricity since my solar went online.

The powers that be have the mindset to eliminate natural gas... as in no more new services, etc.
sounds like a good set up. guess solar panel efficiency has improved over the years. the Bay Area has a lot of fog, esp SF how efficient are your panels in cloud cover?

Generating all the power needed with a little extra to sell back since day one.

I’m not a good example because few start their system with 8 year old components that are now 15 years old.

My 6kW array has never produced real-time more than 4.2kW

Noticed efficiency declines a little in full bright sky in a heatwave with 100 F temps.

Twice a year it takes minutes to adjust the tilt of the arrays to switch between summer and winter optimized angle.

Yeah I know things change.

I think and hope it will be quite some time before I see the homeless camps, poo rivers, rampant crime, BLM protest destruction zone and needle piles y’all describe America as. Maybe things could even go the other way and your area gets better before mine gets worse. Who knows?

Areas can be reborn and as crazy as it may seem the outlook in 2019 was just that.

Business was booming with old semi forgotten and long blighted areas being reborn with private money.

All of a sudden it was the place to be with dining and tap houses and microbrews popping up.

Folks that had long left for the suburbs were actually returning spending on food and entertainment.

I really believed Oakland had turned a corner and seeing is believing.

The pandemic lockdowns with the camps and crime took it all away.

Internationally rated eateries held on but in the end closed citing crime… you know it’s bad when store after store close including profitable franchises…

If you can’t park your car for fear it will get popped or stolen and worse when law enforcement response is go online to make a report for insurance why take a chance?

If your small business gets hit several times a month and your insurance cancelled maybe, just maybe the writing is on the wall?

Here in small town Tyler Texas, they are moving into the woods just outside of town. They are setting up tents, pulling in trailers, and old RV's. They tend to stay to themselves during the day, but then at night, they are wondering onto farms and rural homes. I don't have any numbers on what's being stolen, but from what I've heard, it's becoming an issue that is increasing.

So far, I haven't seen it myself, but a buddy that hunts on my land at night had an encounter with a group of them on another property that he was hunting on. They where taking stuff from the landowners barn when he saw them. He called the landowner, and the landowner called the police. They didn't catch the people, but could see where they went with his stuff, but they where unable, or unwilling, to do anything to get his stuff back. The politics of it all seems to be the biggest issue.

Who doesn't like efficient reliable operation over the long haul with equipment that retains value?

Maybe the emission push back is not about emission or even cost but is focused on more and more complex systems detrimental to reliability and usability?

Requiring a shop with hundreds of thousands of dollars in special diagnostic equipment doesn't help much when all you need to do is get the fields plowed or the crop in...

Maybe this is all headed to leasing and subscription services in the future where you don't own anything and only but the right to use?

That is alarming. I live 1-1/2 hr north of Tyler but haven't heard of illegals coming on to land.
Once these illegals start to get shot maybe law enforcement will start doing something.
Needs to be stopped at the border of course.

I've seen people on family land but no campers that I know.

I always thought Tyler was located above the fray... sorry to hear that.

I've read about stabled horses be stolen for horsemeat... most recent in Florida.

Can't imagine that happening in Texas where they hang horse thieves or is that no longer on the books?
