Talk me out of this or confirm my thoughts....been thinking because after "fixing" my Sovema tiller to be iMatch compatible I plan on painting it so I figured I'd do all the mods in one shot....what do you guys think about welding a bung to the bottom of the chaincase so I can easily drain & replace the oil?
I'd change the oil more often but Its so bleepin messy its awful...this way I could easily change it....While I'm at it I'd also probably weld a new bung on the oil level hole as the threads in the sheetmetal are iffy at best...

How many hrs do you put on it in a year? I have had my tiller for about 4yrs and haven't changed the oil yet. It is still as clean as the day I put it in.I check it every time I use it. The first year I probably put 10 hrs on the tiller. Since then 2 to 4 hrs per year. If you are going to put 40hrs a year I would put in a drain plug.

Sounds good to me. Even if you have to remove the cover to adjust/inspect the internals, the plug would allow you to drain the oil first thus reducing the mess.
