The final candidates are the Phoenix HD T15-72GE vs Land Pride RTA35 76 vs CCM SR-185 Heavy Duty 72".
I had a similar thread in another section. I figure I'll post in the correct section this time. :)

Anybody that has done the research or that owns one want to chime in - good, bad or indifferent.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't own any of the three. I have a JD 660 which is a chain drive. The Land Pride is chain drive of the three you list. I can say we've used the JD quite a bit and never had any issues with the chain drive or anything else. I've hung quite a few rocks in it and the PTO clutch slips and thats it. Turn it off and the rock falls out. The Phoenix is a Sicma made in Italy the CCM is made in Turkey and the Land Pride is made in Kansas. I've thought of getting a bigger tiller that matches my new L5040 but on $econd thought decided to stick with what I have. The 660 is rated at 45 hp at the gear box and the L5040 is 44 at the PTO. I figure as long as I keep that clutch broke free I'm good to go.

Why not get a wider one? Your 70 HP will turn a 80 or 90 inch tiller. If I had the coin and a 70 HP tractor the choice would be the phoenix T20 90". Now thats a serious tiller! You could get the bigger CCM for not much more money. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three but I would consider a tad wider tiller just to make sure I took out both tire tracks.

I am in the same situation as you so I am following this closely. I was leaning towards the CCM. From what I see, it is rated higher as far as gearbox rating and is heavier than the phoenix 15 series. The 20 series Phoenix seems more comparable, but it costs almost $5000. So the CCM is much cheaper (at $2800) rated higher, and heavier. And they have good reputations also. (one guy here on TBN loves his, can't remember who)
I don't know much about the Landpride, but I expect you may pay more for the name. So my vote is for the CCM SR series, due to the above factors.

I do agree with the previous reply, in that I would go for the 84". In the CCM, the cost is $3000, only $200 more for another foot.

What are the quotes you have gotten, and where are your sources? Have you seen any of these personally. (I have not)

I don't know about the other two brands, but own a small Land Pride tiller and two rotary cutters. Like I said, I don't know about the other two brands, but in general, sometimes there is a good reason to "pay for the name."

I read the post by bilrus61 after dinner and was thinking the same thing - I too am now leaning towards the SR-210 84" Tiller... only $200 for an additional foot in width.

The price quotes for the LP RTA35 I've received are $4450 (Bagley), $4522 (Brookside), $4828 (Alvin), $4695 (BB) & $4000 (Normangee). I shopped it because it is/was my first preference. Land Pride is high quality - I haven't seen or heard any complaints yet.

Everything Attachments has the Phoenix HD T15-72GE Tiller advertised for $3831 delivered. It is attractive - but haven't seen many people bragging about it... not sure why. I don't think the price of T20 models make sense for my situation.

I am a newbie and have no other choice but to go after things with the highest recommendation and fit within my budget (then I cross my fingers LOL). I would prefer Land Pride because of all the positive feedback. A few people recommend the LP RTR version (reverse rotation). If they offered an RTR 35 76 - I'd definitely consider it. Since the RTA is a forward rotation I am forced to compare it's price/quality to the competitors. Plus I'll probably end up with several implements - so if I can save some money on this one - it will leave money available for the others...

I haven't seen any - I am brand new to this venture - it's a blast so far.

While I prefer the reverse rotation, I am not sure how much of an advantage if any there is in the larger models.

I would like to have one of the big ones, but since I have a moldboard plow and disk with spike tooth harrow for our bigger tractors, that is what I use.

I can drop ship the Phoenix HD T15-72GE Tiller from Wilson, NC to you for $3600 delivered, as long as supplies last. This is the Sicma machine made in Italy. Ken Sweet

I have an MR-160 (58") from CCM that I use with my 32hp tractor. Very good tiller, Zero problems, I would love to have an SR-210 for my 75hp tractor, but disking works for me with my larger areas and I don't need to spend the money.:(
