Tiller for BX

tmcd,

I bought a Caroni FL1200 48" tiller from Agri-Supply (http://www.agri-supply.com/). It came with a slip clutch, shipped to curb plus sales tax for $970. My only complaint with it is the offset is done by moving the A-frame left or right between two fixed positions, and in either position, the gear box is offset from the center of tractor. This causes the PTO shaft to be offset too much when the tiller is raised to let it run, so I have to be careful to disengage the PTO before raising it above 1/2 way or so. I had to cut the PTO shaft, but with a BX, you will probably have to do it no matter what you buy, unless you get it from a dealer that will do it for you.

I have a BEFCO 40" tiller for my Bx. It is a very good tiller But I wish it was wider. However it is a side shift design. So I just need to shift it to cover the track on the right side. It was 1000.00 but has worked flawlessly.

tmcd,

My Wife ordered me the First Choice 48" for the BX and it works great! She tried going through Sweets and even placed an order but they cancelled so she went with Carver's. Al at Carver's really helped her out and they were excellent to deal with, both before and after the sale.

Tilling with the BX is a joy!

The CCM CR series is designed for the sub-compacts like the BX series.

I've been looking at these. It seems that the BX would also have enough pto hp for the MR series in the 48" range. I'd prefer the side-shift capability of the MR series as well as the 6 tines per flange vs. 4 tines on the CR, but I'm concerned about weight....that the MR may be too heavy for the BX. Also, is the CR series gear drive or chain drive?

I don't know the weight of mine, but my Bota dealer sold me a 52" Bush Hog tiller. BX handles it FINE. I've only used it with the FEL on, so don't know about light front end.

I know this is bigger than Bota recommends, but I wanted the tracks covered. Dealer said he's sold a lot like this combo.

You may want to take a look at the Land Pride RTR05 series tillers. An excellent match for the BX tractors. They feature reverse rotation standard and are reasonably priced. Hope this helps.

I have to make a correction to the above post. I have learned that the CR series has 6 tines per flange like the MR series. Sorry for any problems this caused.

All CCM Tillers are gear driven and have 6 tines per flange. CCM does not sell 4 tine per flange tillers.

I bought a First Choice and have had good luck with it for two years and am pleased with its performance.
