Hello all. I'm new to the Buynet and had a question. Any way I had an idea and was looking for some feed back. In my search for a pto garden tiller I have been met with some rather high prices in my area. Has any one ever welded a 3pt hitch bracket to a walk behind garden tiller and used with their 3pt to till. If so I was looking for feed back on the success or lack there of.

That might work if you can run at a verrrry slow speed. Otherwise you'll constantly stall the engine on the tiller. The one exception would be a diesel engined tiller but one of those would probably run as much or more than a regular pto tiller.
You should be able to get a Yanmar tiller for your 1700 for less than $500.... Well worth the money... If you havent tried it yet, the Yanmar dealers usually have several on the ground. eBay is another option..
BTW, you'll tear that thing up if you take the time to build what you have in mind.. That PTO has ALLOT more power than it may seem..

Hey...I bet you can get a great price on a Gravely with a rotary plow in Virginia!!! Your part of the country has the best prices anywhere.A two wheel Gravely will smack any tiller silly. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yup!! and it worked fine at slow speeds. But, if that is what you want, why not buy a "Agri-Fab" pull type tiller that has a 5 or 6 horse engine on it and is designed to just pin to the drawbar on your tractor and go till????

Right on. I bought a pre-owned Yanmar RS1200 tiller (48" wide) last August for $300 from my local grey market tractor dealer. Will use it later this month on my B7510HST to rototill about an acre around the new house. Need to weld extensions on the tiller to accommodate a slip clutch since there's no shear pin on the tiller.
