( Thanks for the info, Indy. Detailed and concise as always.

My aim is to keep the pricing at a level that's affordable for the customer and also viable for me to generate a return on the equipment & my time.

As a side note, this is a business for me. I have a small home improvement/handyman business and this is one more offering for my current customers and another hook for new ones. I do have all the requisite insurances & permits (for tractor & trailers too). There are no, zero, none, zip, zilch equipment rental yards within 40 miles of my area...homeowner options are quite limited.

Your first season will see a few customers, maybe even a LOTof business. But hold on for year 2 and beyond. It takes a couple seasons to get things rolling. After 29-1/2 years, I've got all I can handle, and then some. It's POURING rain right now, and I'm STILL getting 6 or 7 phone calls per day wanting gardens tilled or plowed.

Indy, do any of that down my way, Georgetown, IN. I do some grass cutting at no cost, mostly to help out, or in the case this year, to welcome a new neighbor.

I am sure there are a few backyard gardens here, just never have worked any of them, and plenty of folks know I have the equipment. (and i wont take any business of yours, not interested in it for sure).

You do lawn installs, what about all kill and reseed, now that you may be able to help me on.

PM or here either way fine

Georgetown? Dang! We're almost neighbors.... I've got family in Lanesville. I do quite a bit of pasture renovation work in the Harrison County area.

I'm certified to do chemical spraying (total kill) on Ag ground only in Indiana. I could probably get you set up to do it yourself though. I'm waiting on delivery of a new over-seeder right now. It should be in with-in a couple weeks. I sold my old one, and ordered a new model from Ken Sweet (Sweet Farm Equipment)

To spread fertilizer, or spray pesticides on land that a person doesn't own, or to do it fore hire, one must be certified and licensed in all states. I'm licensed in Kentucky for residential work and AG work. In the HOOSIER STATE, I'm only covered on Ag ...

I CAN do the seeding. (Over-seeder/aerifier)

I never know what to charge. I will not do anything for less than $25. I try to make at least $60 dollars an hour I'm talking engine hours. Most people tell me I am priced right but I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't charge more.

I am also interested in dethatching the whole place. Thinking of bolting one together using the plans and diagrams that have circulated on here. I have the iron, and would alter the rake to accept the framework of a dethatcher.
