Does anyone have any pictures of areas you have tilled with a 3-point tiller? I am looking to purchase one, but have no experience. What type of finish do they leave on different types of soil and areas? I do not know anyone with one so I have nothing really to look at.
Thanks

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

No pictures and not likely to get any very soon since it is so wet here. (that is a GOOD thing after last years drought).

Perhaps a verbal description will help. I use my brother's King Kutter and after one or two passes (depends upon soil and cover), the soil is really nicely prepared. I did two passes on not quite half an acre of recent pasture land last spring and then planted sweet corn.

There are several threads about tillers / speed and you might want to check them out. But in my opinion, a tiller is one of the best pieces of equipment you can buy if you are not a big acreage farmer.

Do not know how good this picture will turn out, but this is part of 40 acres that I till each year.

The dirt windrows on the left are from the potato planter.

Hey Dawg,
I apologize for being off subject, but what is that contraption on the tailend of your tractor?

Don't you see the taters in there? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That is a one row potato planter. It sure beats a plow and planting them by hand. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

I have rented several tillers in the past to replant my yard after house remodel projects. I've also used tillers to establish my current horse pastures (~1.5 ac).
Kubota and JD brands. (Can't remember the model #'s) but they were all 5'. Great tools. I think that for the small landowner, they are one of the best attachments you can get for your tractor.

Oh yah... whoa, 40 acres of taters?!? That's an awful lot for one little dog to eat! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Slick planter unit, though. Is that irrigation hose on the big spool?

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

Not all potatoes, 7-8 acres potatoes, 6-7 acres of corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, watermelon, muskmelon, plus a bunch of other things.

The big spool is a water reel. It has a motor on it to increase the water pressure. It will water an area 200 feet wide and about six hundred feet long in one pass in whatever amount of water that you set it for, time will depend upon the rate.

Picture of an area that has been tilled, sown to rye and then harrowed with a home built toothed harrow.
