Re: Tiller Photo\'s

Not really a good indication what this tiller can do. Here are some photos of my CCM MR-175 tiller in some very hard ground in a hay field. And we had been in a drought for several weeks. http://www.pixagogo.com/7000025205 This was just me out testing it when I first got it. I t looks bad but that is because of the grass that it churned up. The next day, it was nothing but fine dirt. Looked really good after the grass had dried.

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

I posted a pic or two of a small area I tilled last year, probably in May if you want to search for it. My land is gravel with topsoil (kind of) on top.

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

Are most of you using a backwards (or whatever you call it) turning or a forwards turning tiller? I see where Land Pride makes some of each. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? I have looked at the KK brand as well as the Frontier brand. I believe both were forward turning though....

Thanks for all the help and education so far. Land Pride videos were very helpful in showing what a tiller can do.

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

Mine is forward rotating tiller. The backwards turning ones require much more HP.

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

The reverse tillers continue to push large chunks forward until they can pass thru the sifting tines in the rear. most guys here have forward tillers (helps push tractor forward), reverse tiller pull tractors backwards hence the more hp required to pull them but very little hp is lost with this tiller. They really dont pull tractors backwards more like give forward resistance.

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

I just finished two passes on what I hope will be my corn patch this year.
I have a Simca that is several years old. Purchased new and have "bused" it at times to break up rocky/clay and roots etc.

Re: Tiller Photo\'s

Don't know if this is true, if you hit a stump or large rock with a reverse tine tiller it will pull the tiller down and into the obstacle, if you do the same with a forward tine tiller the tiller will ride up and over the obstacle?

Hi, If you have seen the landpride video about the counter rotating tiller ,They seam as they would do a great job which I do not doubt. My only concern with them would as a previous poster kinda stated, That hitting rocks or any obstacles of a decent size the forward rotating tiller will just crawl over it while the counter rotating unit would try to pull the obstacle up into the housing sheild possibly causing tremendous damage... Just My thoughts ...

Oh BTW I just tilled my garden with a forward rotating tine tiller and it turned into powder, soft and fluffy of course it has been very very dry here.
