Tiller questions

I have an Iseki TS 1610 and am considering buying a 48" roto tiller to use. Is the TS1610 enough tractor for a 48" tiller? The manufacturer says 15-25 hp is required. I just don't want to be on the lower end of HP and have the tractor wook too hard with the tiller.

As far as I know allmost all Isekis in that size range were built specifically to run a tiller & I,ve never seen a smaller one then 4 foot . I wouldn,t go any bigger though . Of coarse the type of soil has a lot to do with it .

But they have enough speeds it still should handle about any type of soil if you just take your time & go at it slow .

Also if you dont have a loader on the front I,d make sure you have enough weight on the front to counter balance the tiller . Best of luck .

Thanks for the reply. No, I don't have a front end loader, but I do have plenty of weight to counter balance attachments. Thanks again.

I bought a 1610 that came with a 4 foot tiller and it ran the tiller just fine. As was mentioned, soil type has a lot to do with things but as long as you keep this in mind, you should have no problems. I sold the tractor to a water district that wanted it strictly for tilling and reseeding right of ways. The individual that made the purchase for them called me several months later to ask about buying another one for his personal use. He said they couldn't have been happier with its function/ability.
