I encountered a nice surprise with my new 48" tiller. It turns out I discovered where a friend buried some concrete that he broke up for me some years back. I didnt expect to find it where I wanted my garden. Lots of things happened when it hit, most of it a blur. The machine and tiller appear to have survived in tact...but my nerves for the day were like having too much coffee...shot /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

For us that do have the adjustable slip clutches. It's a good ideal every year or two the loosen up the clutch and get it to slip. Then retight to the right adjustment. The reason is moisture gets in the clutch disk/plates and rust starts. It can get so bad the clutch my not slip at all.

I would have to agree that it is a shocker when the machine suddenly goes silent. I just did this on Friday evening. I was tilling up my backyard, which at one point was all trees and before that I think pasture. Well, apparently this big chunk of fencing that I wrapped around my tiller was buried underground. It lurched my 7610 forward and then just went silent. No harm to the tractor or tiller but it sure was fun getting the wire unwrapped/cut away from the tiller.

Unfortunately, my Befco tiller does not have a slip clutch, it has the old fashion shear bolt which did not break. I kinda wish I had the slip clutch instead.
