I don't know if 28 pto horsepower is enough to run a 6' tiller in our hard soil. I don't want to beat the crap out of the drive train.

After looking at the Priefert web site it looks like they use the same gearboxes as the Tarter units. If I was going to do all that re-working on the KK unit I would probably set it up to change it to a reverse unit. If you are using the tillers on real hard pan surface then maybe a reverse unit would help more it you do not have rocks to deal with.

thats a thought; so after replacing the gearbox, do I just reverse the tines? As far as the work involved to repair it; minimal. Looking at it I am surprised the metal is so thin and feel this is why KK look bad so early. When I do the repair i'll post pictures to show what I found..

The gear on the input is on the back side of the input shaft on the forward tine tillers. On the reverse units the gear on the input shaft is on the front of the input shaft. Change the input shaft and you will have a reverse tiller. The tines and side gearboxes are the same. The output shaft gear is the same. Change the input shaft on 4ft units and someone could have a 4ft reverse unit.

This is way I haven't put up the parts section yet for reverse models. If you need more info let me know.

Not sure if you have bought your tiller yet, but your tractor will handle a 6 foot tiller. You want to cover your tire tracks. I have a Bobcat CT 235 - slightly less power than yours and I live at 6500 feet. I am running an Ansung Terra Force YJR074 (McGees carries them and the others mentioned here at great prices). With your hydrostatic drive you can just slow down in the rough spots and let the tiller do its work. The Ansung units are very heavy (plate steel over stamped sheet metal). The other brand mentioned are also good. I tried a reverse time unit a while back, and did not care for the debris being thrown forward into the rear of the tractor - just my opinion.

Hope this helps - Keith
