NFG is an adjectival phrase used to describe a part that is no longer good for its intended purpose.

Actually, I would think "NFG" is an acronym, wouldn't you agree?

And, it may refer to a brand new part that isn't usable for it's intended purpose.

This is another military term (or acronym) since the military loves acronyms!!

I agree. You are correct, NFG is an acronym and it can apply to any obect, new or used. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I was thinking of it being spelled out, then it would be a adjectival phrase. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Okay, first I have to apologize for using a saying / adjectival phrase / acronym whose meaning I assumed was more generally known than apparently it is!

NFG - whatever it's language structure, means "Non Functioning Goods" however is more commonly lengthened to its vernacular slang definition of "No F****** Good"! One of those slang things that is OK to use in public but you know what it really means!

Kinda like one of my favorite old military sayings -- SNAFU! Of course SNAFU is actually a nounal phrase rather than an adjectival phrase!

And dey taught wese peeple only new tracters!!

My dealer gave me a can of Titanium spray to keep the cylinder moisture free...So far it is working..

I've got the same problem with my extending steering column. It's locked in place, and I can't budge it. I have not tried to force it with a wrench, since it's at a pretty good height for me... I'm afraid if I really crank on it, it will let loose and not lock back in position again...

Let me know if you find anything out, and I'll do the same next time I need service.

BTW... I also had some trouble with the tilt mechanism sticking, but it seems to work ok now.

Hi John,

The Titanium spray lubricant my dealer gave me, solved the problem..But, he also told me that NH is sending out bulletins to dealers re; this problem. He has ordered me a new cylinder...Your's may have a bit of moisture in it like mine.

Yes indeed, that is just one of the problems I had with my TC/29D. I should have known it was going to happen, when I tried one out at the dealer absolutely every one on his outside lot did NOT work. I freed mine up with a can of N/H penetrating oil. There is a small tit that extends from the end of the tilt cylinder that rusts into position. You should notice the activator lever becoming a bit stiff right before it sticks for good, give it a shot of oil. If you have super steer like mine was, they have to half disassemble the tractor to replace it, which means a haul to the dealer.
