I just finished my evaluation of my property with my newly installed Tiltmeter. Well according to my tiltmeter, my entire front yard is about 15 deg, and a couple of questionable areas are over 25 deg, but those areas do not seem to make the tractor lean very much at all, and do not seem to be scary. My tiltmeter is mounted flat on my Dash, Does anyone think this is normal?

Nuru,

When you mean flat, do you mean that it was place at the same angle as the dash. If that is the case, I would question its accuracy. I believe you need to have it perpendicular to the ground to ensure its effectiveness.

OR

Have you checked your seat to see if the pucker factor has left any marks!! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

You may have a high tolerance for leaning one way or the other. I know that when mine hits 15 degrees, I begin to watch whats going on around me.

Teryy, hello. Hmmm, perpendicular to the ground. Perpendicular to the ground..etc. Yep that could be the issue. I will try it on the hood, in the correct orientation. I will also take a picture of the tractor on the slope and post it soon.

I have the dual tiltmeter [front to back and side to side] mounted on top of my dash. Works great although I still rely on my gut feel which tends to be a bit more conservative. I have a level concrete floor in the shed where I could set the meter to zero. I have had the tractor with a bush hog at about 25 degrees and held my breath the whole time. It did not feel unstable but I sure was uncomfortable. Other times I have been in soft soil at 15 degrees and felt even more unstable.
