Timber Frame Hybrid Home - Owner Builder

Since he is a framer, and I'm assuming he did a good job on the framing because you where nice to him and sent him the pictures, I don't see any problem in him being proud of the house he worked on. It would be the same as the electrician posting a picture of the finished house and bragging on how nice it turned out, or any of the other trades. Unless he is claiming to have built the entire house himself, his comments don't seem out of line to me.

Having said that, I came across a picture on a landscapers Facebook page of a gazebo that I built and he said that it was one of their projects and they could build one just like it for you. I replied to his comments with something like, thank you for posting a picture of the gazebo I built for "the name of the wedding venue" and how I appreciated him sharing it with others. Please feel free to contact me if anybody wants to talk about having be build one for them too. What's really funny is he wasn't even the landscaper on the original job, he was used for staging pictures for models in creating their brochure.

Hey Eddie,

The framer has a turn-key home building business. They build houses from the ground up including design, finishing, cabinets, etc. Our home was included in their portfolio as one of their turn-key homes, which to the lay persons looks like this was one of their own from their design team. It wasn't so much the comment, but the inference that this was one of their own when looking at the comments along with where it was listed.

The framing turned out good but it was a struggle at times along the way. I didn't go into much detail in my thread about it other than mentioning at the start that we had to send the workers home for two weeks and wait for the owner to return from vacation when we started framing. The issues continued after that but most were minor in comparison to how things started. This was a very difficult house to frame and I gave the crew some leeway in judgement due to that. We did part on good terms.

I can understand your frustration/disappointment...perhaps mentioning something in passing?

I've decided to let it go. The initial frustration has worn off and not worth worrying about.

Eddie - I wish you were closer. We have a rental facility for weddings and events. I could really use one of those gazebos. Great work.

Thank you, that's not one of my better gazebo's, this one is my best by far!!!

Hearing the rest of the story, I think I would comment on his post and thank him for doing the framing on the house that you designed, and how it was all worthwhile having to struggle with such a tough house to frame and eventually getting it right. Kind of a backwards compliment that expresses your frustration with what he did and didn't do, but eventually it all worked out due to your intervention.

Really really nice Eddie. Love it. Any more pics or do you have a thread on this one with pics?

Just like general elections "vote early, vote often"![/QUOTE]

Watching (and voting often) but seems another kitchen has a dedicated "team" of voters as they have over 150 votes since 1:15am this morning!
you are now 115 votes behind :-(

I just checked. We are now in the lead. Didn't know I had a team of voters as well. Not very scientific is it. Lol.

Thanks Eddie. I'm sitting here waiting for a soccer game to start so we can shoot pyro for pregame. This will give me something to look at while I wait.

:) I enjoy competition, so I have cast a "few" votes
