Great news. Nice to see some pics of the frame. I remember how nice it was to see ours when it was started.

there are a lot of updates, I have been very busy, and very frustrated with contractors, but we are moving along. We poured concrete basement walls last week and started moving in dirt to bring up the grade today. We should have gotten a slab inspection today and then will be able to get the slab in the basement poured later this week so that we can start framing. We have had so many weather delays and other delays up until now, that it is always 2 steps forward and one step back. But we are making slow progress. I will try to update as I have the patience and time.

What ever happened to your project? Hope you are completed by now or nearly so?
Would be great if you came back and provided some summary of the project with final pics and such.

I really debated whether or not I wanted to bring this back to life. We are still working on it and we are making progress but rather slowly.

I have taken on a lot of the work myself and I only get out there 2 or 3 days a week and then it is usually by myself. So, things move forward at a snails pace.

I am currently working on installing electric and am probably about 40% finished with that. We have masons who have been building a masonry fireplace and chimney since the fall (long story) and it is just being finished up.

I am currently finalizing details with an amish door company to build all of the doors for the house. Once I get the exterior doors from them, I will finally be able to make the house truly weather tight! We have most of our contractors lined up from this point out, I think, but there is still a lot to do.

I love reading the threads you guys have written about building your houses and they have given me lots of good ideas. I have been reading home building threads and blogs for years in anticipation of this build. I always thought I would be able to do a detailed thread or blog on our build, but it just isn't in me. Building the house is enough (too much?) work sometimes, trying to post online too, I just couldn't keep it up. I will try to get some pics up at some point, at least when we are done, sorry for the lack of follow through here.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing some pics in the future. Glad to see things are still moving forward.

I understand the effort to do this type of project yourself (even just managing the subs can drive you crazy).

Glad to hear you are progressing and will look forward to seeing some of your results.
Even if you don't do the full up blog of the project feel free to ask us about our experience/learning as you run into areas of concern etc with your project.
