I thought it was a bad idea to use teflon tape on hyd. fittings. Or is that only on tractors because of the transmission?

You may want to put something on the pusher to keep the logs from cocking off to the side. Many have two 1/3 circles of raised steel about 1/4" high.

I also wouldn't be surprised if you wind up hacking some of those rods off of one end. They look like they could snag a pant leg or even give you a nasty jab in the crotch if you are not careful.

Looks like a nice splitter. Good job!

Maybe you could connect the rod ends with a shin guard. You'll surely think of refinements as you use it.

If you are careful with the Teflon it shouldn't get in the system. My 3ph splitter came with taped thread joints and some scraps did get caught in the quick connect the first time I used it. I use some white goo called Bakerseal that has been 100% successful so far. Locktite also makes some nice liquid Teflon sealer in a handy squeeze tube.
