My 1736 is good gor 3000 lbs at the end of the arms. So what are my consideration for general purpose lifting forks? I don稚 wanna get something overly heavy it値l pick up more than the tractor is capable of but I want them as long as I possibly can 48 inches I知 thinking. I see 42 and 46 inch are a lot cheaper and seem more in the load range for my tractorSo what痴 my considerations thanks.

Long Pallet Forks are much more cumbersome when used to pick up brush and trees.
Long Pallet Forks often pierce the ground and get under tree roots when used for brush and trees, preventing lift until withdrawn and repositioned above grade. Consider 42" and 38" tine length.
( Debris Forks are 19" to 22" in length.)

When picking up 40"+ green tree trunks you will regularly hit 3,000 pounds with just one trunk loaded on your Pallet Forks.

When loading and moving brush, the ability to change the distance between fork tines easily is useful. Having optimal spread, narrow for fluffy loads, wider for compacted brush, reduces brush spillage during transit.

SSQA (Skid Steer Quick Attach) coupled Pallet Forks place load closer to the Loader pins, increasing lift, relative to bolt on Pallet Forks. SSQA forks include a rear operator guard which prevents logs from rolling off the forks and onto the tractor hood. Few who use bolt-on Pallet Forks for moving debris will not have had part of a load roll over the bucket and onto the tractor hood.

You need a lot of Three Point Hitch counterbalance weight to pick up heavy Pallet Fork loads SAFELY.

Mine are 42 inch, never felt the need for more length. Brush, limbs, pallets, timbers, logs, rocks, brush hog, flail mower, boxes, flower pots, riding mower; it all gets picked up easily. So many uses.

I got a wild hair when I ordered and got 60" forks. I wish they were 48" .

Forks are easily shortened using a cutting torch, then touch up the ends with a shop grinder.

Once you have forks and discover their usefulness you will be tempted to lift heavier and heavier things. They are an attachment that invites (ab)use. To wit: I use forks to move boulders that I cannot roll into the FEL bucket. The CG is closer to the pins so I can lift more, and when I could not lift the boulder, I was able to use the forks as skids and push it.

Few people buy an attachment with the express intention of abusing it, but be aware that at some time you will undoubtedly put more strain on the forks than your tractor can lift. You might consider sacrificing some lifting capacity to buy sturdier, heavier forks to avoid potential damage to them. As I recall the (tare) weight penalty for 3000# forks over 2000# forks (my FEL rated capacity) was around 150#; I opted for the heavier duty forks.

Just received my 48 in SkidPro forks. I kinda wish they were shorter but.....once I put on my fel camera I might quit harpooning the dirt!

I went with 3000 lb 48" forks and frame.
