Time to find a new Bota Dealer

/ Time to find a new Bota Dealer #11
The problems I have had with the BX were all listed here with part numbers and dealer bulletin numbers. My dealer could not "find" the information on the Kubota intranet site until I gave him the numbers others supplied here. So it would have cost me $200 for the leaking fuel tank and $18 for the air filter strap. Thanks TBN for saving me $$$.

My dealer does not have a web address or a e-mail, really makes you wonder, but then again they seem to be doing well give the amount of stuff they have on site.

Thanks Vice President Gore for starting the internet. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

As much praise as Kubota gets on this site, I can't believe anyone (dealers) could call us liars. IMHO Kubota is the highest complimented tractor on this forum and deserves the reputation that it has earned. They have quality equipment that serves North America very well. I don't have one but sure wish I could afford one.

TBN is a great source of information, it can work to the dealers advantage if they will let it. I find products talked about here that I didn't even know I needed until someone explains the benefits. This then sends me to the dealers to purchase.

I've been laughing about that for about 5 years now.

Info I gathered here and on other forums gave me the insite to ask the right questions about the BX. Such as is the leaking fuel sender fixed, new air filter bracket and the treadle pedal not sticking. Matter of fact, in knowing these questions, I wanted to see if the dealer would be upfront with me and they were.

I posted on another forum the dealers name and location and when I went back and picked up my MMM, he told me he had already heard from someone who had read about my positive experience in dealing with him. So he just may get some more business because of my posting on the internet.
Hummm, wonder if'n I should get some kind of finders fee or something of the like /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think the service oriented dealers will be able to utilize the internet and profit by it where as those that see every customer as just a "mark" will eventually fall by the wayside as the days of high profits/returns on a single unit are history! Good service is what sells these days, IMHO!
Hope you have good luck in finding a dealer you can deal with.

TBN is truly a Great informative place - my wife wonders why I read it so often - just commented "Don't your eyes get sore".
I have 2 Kubota Dealers in my area, both +60 miles distant, in different directions. Planned to buy from one, but as questions arose couldn't get timely answers since he didn't have a web site or email. The second Dealer had a web site and a younger woman running it - I emailed questions a half dozen times or so before buying and always got my answers that day or the next. Needless to say, I purchased from the Dealer with the web site and have gone back for attachments, oil, filters, etc.

Alright, I guess I should stand up and back the guy a bit. I think very highly of the resources available on the internet, but they are not a substitution for advice from a dealer and seat time on a tractor. There is some info here that is wrong, granted... its the minority. The problem is more that many customers make internet shopping their only outlet into their purchase. Many people do all their homework online and buy tractors without ever putting their butt in the seat. End result is more uninformed and misinformed customers. You need to keep in mind that there are several magnitude as many people who read these forums without ever posting and asking questions. Its easy for someone like this to come to incorrect conslusions. My advice is to just keep an open mind about what you read here. The real truth somtimes gets clouded behind peoples bias's and the lack of access to the technical resources.

I think its great that bullitins and part numbers leak their way to the net. If it was me behind the wheel customers would have a window to selected service bullitins and the systems we have access too, I think it will eventually come to that. Part of the reason that they are so slow to get these things out is because their core systems are still based on old mainframe technology. These companies have not realized the powerful tool that the internet can be for them. This is not a issue thats just unique to Kubota, everyone is doing it and they where one of the last to jump on the bandwagon. In 10 years, I think things will be totally different.

The only time I found clouded truth was with my old dealer.

This forum is invaluable. And as for seat time, what value is a three minute test drive at the dealer? What kind of seat time can you realistically expect to get at the dealer lot?
I'll choose someone with experience, and without monetary motivation anytime.
And without Kubota owning up to their engineering and quality control issues like I would expect them to do, this is the only place to be informed. These are not trival issues that Kubota has had with these tractors. And I have yet to see a bulletin from anyone on my tractor. Yet, I had the fuel sensor leak, an environmental AND safety issue, my pedal sticks, my steering cylinder needed replacement. Even my hood rattles.
Not a word form Kubota.
I didn't expect that I would be having these types of silly problems with a tractor that cost as much as mine. Or I would have looked elsewhere. This is not a trivial purchase to me.
I will take advice of real owners over the salesman "absolutely" answer anytime. And I bet that I'm not the only one.
Perhaps you should take your own advice and get off this site and back out to your sales lot where you claimed that you can only get the "real experience" from that three minutes of seat time, and that invaluable sales advice and guidance - basically "how much money do you have, and how much can I get you to part with here?" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Neil, I am curious what you mean by "selected" and who does the selection and what systems you have access too.

Thanks for participating in this forum. I appreciate your view.

dannydan,
Your last paragraph to Neil is pretty harsh, given the tenor of his post and his general attitude here on TBN. It's easy to understand you being upset with Kubota, given the problems you've had, but go easy on noncombatants.
So far, none of the BX problems on my 22, knock on wood... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
