My aluminum deck ...from Nexan.... cost about 50% more than the material bids using an upgraded synthetic. I did not like trex at all, but found so other brands to be alot thicker and have more eye appeal . But the wife came in with 妬 want zero maintenance? This after 24 years of sanding and restaining cedar deck.
My deck also has hidden fasteners so no face nailing or screws. definately not cheap, but let me tell you...wait till you price out aluminum handrails. Be ready to bend over.
Cuts very easily with chop saw and 80 tooth carbide blade. Cuts easier than trex does. One other thing i forgot to mention.....no face nails. All hidden fasteners. I had to sand and restain my wood decks every other year until i just gave up.... wayyyyy too much work. And todays stains suck. They took all the good stuff out of them.I like the way your deck looks. My 20 YO wood deck is a PITA, needs to be painted every 3-4 years and now it's rotting. Thanks for the Nexan info. How do you cut that stuff or does it have to be custom made? Aluminum Decking, Railing, Fencing, Pergolas and Deck Framing by Nexan Building Products

Well, the base framing is wood instead of metal like docks, so nowheres as noisy. But noisier than my old wooden deck. Hardly noticeable though. Is the aluminum decking noisy? I have been around aluminum docks and they are noisier than a wood dock. But the wood docks do not last long. Just wondering. Thanks, Jon
