On a related note...... i need to roof our small barn in the near future. Is there anything available that will replicate an old rusty looking metal barn roof?

Yup! Old rusty metal roofing.
Bet you can find some if you search around older farms. They probably have some metal roofing stored that they meant to put up 5 or 10 years ago and just never got around to it.

google rusty metal roof and you will get some hits. Barton lumber in Barnstead, had some samples, kinda pricey.
I've seen some Everlast II econo galvanized around, distributed by McQuesten/Hood out of Billerica, MA. 40oz of zinc/100 sqft vs 90-100 on the better galvanized. Should rust up in a few years.
