I can’t take credit for this, someone else on this site gave me the tip. My log splitter goes both horizontal and vertical. It fairly nose heavy, meaning it takes a lot of effort to lift it vertical. Just put a log on it while it horizontal and dig the wedge in just a little, this will help balance it better to lift vertical.

I have the same splitter and have split 32-36" rounds of Ash with it.
But it is a nightmare to go vertical, I will have to try this,
I usually just put the wedge all the way out, but that only helps a little.
would be a perfect place to put a cheap jack.

When I change oil in vehicles I dump the new oil in the engine, put the lid back on the container, and the find a place under the hood to place it upside down for a couple minutes. This gets most of the residual oil down to the cap and then I dump it in the engine. Not a large amount but I figure it’s better in my engine than in the landfill.
When I was a kid working my first job at a Texaco gas station (60 years ago), my boss would have me drain the remnants out of every empty oil can into a gallon container for each weight oil. It always amazed me how fast we would fill a gallon container. There is a lot more residue than you might guess in an oil container. He used that oil in his personal vehicles.

Is there still a market for hard copy encyclopedias ?...used to spend a lot of time at the local library...especially before we got both a set of Encyclopedia Britannica and World Book...!
When I was a kid, my oldest sister saved up and bought a set of World Book encyclopedias. I read them constantly. I would swear I learned more from them than ever did in primary school.

The round in my picture should be a little bigger, it’s the first time I tried this so kind of an experiment.

One of the earlier tips helped me, about storing welding helmets. I have a logging helmet. If I store it upside down it fills up with dust and bugs. If I store it right side up it distorts the suspension system and hurts my head, which also happens if I hang it up. I ended up putting it in a garbage bag.

File cabinets are great, around here they're often free if they're not pretty enough for home or office. Who cares in the shop. I've got one with all the oil and auto chemicals in one drawer and the top is full of folded tarps.
Another good storage is lockers - not the full length high school type but the smaller square ones. Each bay can hold a grinder and all the related stuff for it, keeps everything handy and together.
I have several file cabinets. Only one has any kind of "paper files" in it. When my gun safe became too small (they seem to shrink, don't they?), I now use a five drawer cabinet for ammo storage. The lockable ones add a layer of security. New "ammo storage" cabinets are pretty pricey.

Better: Leave the log off and run the ram forward as far as it will go. If you have auto-return, stop it manually.

Hmm.. further consideration leads to. It depends on the weight of the round which way is better. The log one would be even better if the it were put on the splitter sideways. I used to use that regularly but the other day I found myself brute strength lifting it.

Tired of climbing a ladder to clean out your gutters? Several years ago I got a gutter clean out tool for my Stihl leaf blower. It works pretty slick. It’s not going to clean out a clog where your downspout hooks up but if you stay ahead of things it works well. It’s a long tube with a hook on the end.

I tried one of those gutter extensions for my 18v leaf blower and it sucked... had to return it. I may have to step up to what you showed
