TIP\'N\'TILT

NH Guys,

I gotta come clean and confess that I visit the Orange guys forum quite a lot. They really have been diggin in on this subject. Since I'm a Blue guy and I have a WOODS 72" HD box scraper with scarifier, I'd like to hear from other NH guys that have used Boomer remote hydraulics or added their own for center link or TIP'N'TILT control. Whatssssup?

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

Yeah JT I am new to this forum as well as tractor ownership (TC 40D), so yeah I'am keen to hear comment from guys who have done the hydraulic thing on the NH, and was surprised to read that the Hydraulic top link doesnt give downward pressure as I would have bet my house it did, learn something new every day I guess

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

I'm one of those Orange guys although I am Farmall red too.

I saw a NH-TC18 a few days ago used by a contractor. He used Gannon TNT, with power rippers. It was interesting that he had the regular hydraulic toplink, but replace both side links with hydraulic cylinders. I tried to find the owner, so I could ask about it, but he wasn't around.

It was a really nice Blue setup.

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

RobertN, if I remember right, I think Mark Chalkley put hydraulic cylinders on both lower links, too. I guess that gives you the maximum amount of adjustment, but you not only have the added expense, but need a big old 3 spool valve. I originally intended to just do the top link, but then decided to go ahead and do one side link also.

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

I'm still at the dreaming stage here, but I'm thinking if I go to the trouble and expense of adding a 2-spool valve for tip 'n' tilt, why not go the extra mile for a 3-spooler, just to have an auxilliary control all ready to go.

It seems like it's just going to be a matter of time before the need arises, like finding "such a deal" on good box with hydraulic rippers. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

To put it in the form of a question -- would there be any reason not to add the extra spool?

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

About $40-$100, depending on the valve type and manufacturer.

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

Harv, only two reasons to NOT add a third (or even fourth) spool; (1) cost, and (2) finding a convenient place to mount the larger size.

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

Harv, discounting the cost, I see only upside. The 3d spool would be handy for a cylinder on the implement such as down pressure on a posthole digger, chute rotator on a snowblower or on a backblade even if temporaly disconnected from a 3 point side arm. I'm interested to see if there is an appropiate 3 spool valve that's a reasonable size and GPM/pressure that will fit in the limited space available.
Boy, it's hard to beat the Bird/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif, especially if you're a hunt & peck

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

The Danfoss valve from Baileynet.com looks good, especially for the price. It's smaller than the one they sell in Northern Tools. I have a brand new one from Northern tools if you're interested; I'm not going to use it. It's a little on the large size...

Re: TIP\'N\'TILT

I stopped in a NH dealer today to get a price to add hydraulics for the TNT and ouch! $595.00 for the valve and couplers alone. I thought that was a little rich but maybe not. Anyone price pieces? Cliff
