Now does anyone know anything about this? It looks similar, but if you look close you will see a few small differences. I don't know much about them so they might be the same saws.

The blade guides look less precise on that model than on the universal Chinese models. It looks like you'll need to readjust them for alignment every time you change their position.

Just a friendly caution. Although most of these saws look very similar, there have been posts on other sites about differences in quality for the blade guides and how well they can be adjusted, if at all. I remember one post that the saw had some kind of eccentric roller guide that the owner was having a terrible time adjusting. So if you're in the market for one of these saws, it would be wise to do some internet research ("4x6 horizontal bandsaw") and then carefully look at how the guides and support arms are made on the particular model you're interested in. They might look the same, but be careful before you buy.

Yep.. but what kind of HP..

I've seen some wild claims of hp on some motors that try to 'rate' using peak... etc..

Let's say they are rated peak because they are both entry saws. Looking at both saws their are differences though besides just HP........

1. Northern's looks much cheaper in the jaws and blade guides than HF's. HF
are also grooved internally.
2. HF's has two alignment bolts for the idler pulley and Northern's has one.
3. HFs has a lift lock. Northern none.
4. HFs will miter 55 degrees and Northerns 45 degrees.
5. HFs stand sucks and Northern's does too!!:D

I did look at Jet's bandsaw before I bought HFs and they are identical, except Jets can run 110 or 220. Below is a good thread on HFs saw at weldingweb. BTW Soundguy where in Central Florida are ya. St Cloud is my hometown.
