It the reason people use calcium cloride for tire ballast beause its heavier or cheaper than the same amount of water/antifreeze?

From what I have read, it tends to corrode rims somewhat so what is the advantage.

Thanks

It's heavier, but not cheaper than water/anti-freeze.

In some cases it does while others have had it in their tires for years without a problem.

The advantage is that it's heavier per gallon than many of the alternatives.

Many people use windshield washer fluid instead, while others use wheel weights.

Hi...

There are newer types of liquid tire ballast that are non-corrosive and non-toxic...

If calcium chloride is used... tire tubes are recommended...

Mike,
All the talk about Slime and such in another thread got me curious. Thanks for the response.

Wheel weights seems like the way to go cuz you can yank them off if you decide to. Filling tires up with junk seems kinda permanent.

Tnx,

I guess filled tubes makes sense to eliminate the rim problems.

Oh well thanks for the education.
